GENERAL DENTISTRY AND ORTHODONTICS—Dr. Kennedy is a general dentist, focusing his practice on combining full service dentistry with Functional Orthodontics and Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Kennedy has been performing functional orthodontics since 1980. His philosophy follows that espoused by the American Association of Functional Orthodontics (www.aafo.org) as he believes this approach to dentistry provides the best long term results and is what he would recommend to his family and friends.
 
Indeed, Dr Kennedy has improved close to 1000 smiles employing this approach. Orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry overlap. The younger the patient, the more likely it is that orthodontics and bleaching are the best and most conservative approach to achieving a great healthy smile. In patients over 30 a combination of orthodontics and veneers is usually recommended. Over the age of 40, many adults prefer not to go through orthodontics, and although less can be achieved by this approach, one can still expect excellent results. COSMETIC DENTISTRY—Dr Kennedy and members of his staff have also recently attended the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Cosmetic Studies (LVI) (www.lvilive.com) under Dr. Bill Dickersen. The techniques perfected at the Institute represent the leading edge in the field of cosmetic dentistry using Empress Veneers, and while Dr Kennedy has been using porcelain veneers since 1984, he believes that upgrading skills and knowledge is essential to providing his patients with the best care possible.
Because medical and dental knowledge is changing and expanding rapidly, all the dentists at the Fraserview Dental Centre regularly attend courses and dental conferences to keep abreast of current techniques and information and in order to offer expertise in a variety of areas.
